Fire INventory from NCAR (FINN), version 2.4

July 2021:
The FINN emissions have been updated to version 2.4. These replace version 2.2 (which should not be used). Please see the README file for more details and file formats. Emissions have been created for the MOZART T1, GEOS-CHEM, and SAPRC99 chemical mechanisms. FINNv2.4 emissions have been created with MODIS only fire detections (2002-2020) and with both MODIS and VIIRS fire detections (2012-2020).

Please select a file configuration to download:
FINNv2.4 with Fire count: Year: Speciation:
MODIS+VIIRS is available only for years 2012-2020.

Fire INventory from NCAR (FINN), Version 1.5

January 3, 2018
FINNv1.5 emission files for 2016 have been updated/replaced to correct for a leap year error. Emissions for 2017 and 2018 (through December 25) are now available. Please see note below about the FINNv1.6 emission files.

April 30, 2018
Issues with the FINNv1.6 files (allowed for download from this site in December 2017) were discovered recently, and it is recommended that these files are NOT used. As of April 20, 2018, the FINNv1.5 files are available to download now.
We recommend that FINNv1.6 files are no longer used. Please contact christine.wiedinmyer@colorado.edu with any questions.

May 30, 2021
FINNv1.5 is now available for 2020 (Jan 1 to Dec 30).

Global Biomass Burning Emission Factor Compilation

Updated September 2018
The compilation of emission factors from recent studies continues. Please see this list of recent articles with published emissions factors. For any questions, please contact Bob Yokelson.

Updated July 2017
The emission factor compilation updates continues, but will not be finalized for some time. Until then, please download this document for updates to emission factors used in the Akagi et al. supplemental tables.
